No Covid Jabs In Mumbai Next Two Days, Here's Why

15 May, 2021 13:12 IST|Sakshi Post

Officials in Mumbai decided to suspend Covid-19 vaccination drive for the next two days because of the warning given by IMD over Tauktae cyclone. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation clarified that there will be no inoculation on May 15 and 16.

It is just a precautionary measure as cyclone Tauktae is expected to pass close to Mumbai, told the Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani.

At present, Mumbai has 260 active vaccination centres and till date, 28,41,349 persons have received vaccine jabs, including 23,924 on Friday. The decision to suspend vaccination was taken to avoid troubles for senior citizens and also possible crowding as Mumbai is expected to get rains with cyclone effect.

The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that cyclone Tauktae may likely pass close to Mumbai via sea route, but it won't hit the city directly. It said that the cyclone is likely to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the city.
